It was established in 1811. Today, almost 12,000 plants can be admired here.
The Botanical Garden is a separate institute of the Faculty of Biological Sciences of Wrocław University, there is a Natural History Museum, and the Botanical Garden itself has been registered as a historical monument.
Situated right next to Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island), it is a popular place for walks and relaxation.
Many events are organised in the Botanical Garden throughout the year, including the Tum May Festival, the finals of the Wrocław Magnolia, the Pumpkin Festival, as well as concerts and outdoor events for children and meetings for gardening enthusiasts. The garden's paradisiacal setting is often chosen by newlyweds as the location for their post-wedding photo shoots.
